Getting bibles to Africa safelty? On in Africa cheaply?

Slightly off topic in a sense...

My missionary friend over in Africa is desperate for bibles for the children and youth outreach work they are doing.

(It is quite within my means, and I am more than willing, to send some there myself.
I am not even asking, hinting or suggesting that anyone here send any.)

My problem is that from several failed attempts, much doesnt reach her when it is posted.


Anyone know any sources in Uganda for reasonably priced, cheap or even free bibles that they could apply for?
Or do you know a sure fire way to get them over there without hold ups at the border and massive fees being demanded to release them to the addressee etc.?

Any advice welcome.
