SARCASM.. Sin or not?
Sarcasm.... is it sinful? Yea or Nay?

I hear people justify it and I hear others condemn it.
What are your thoughts? Does scripture condone or condemn it?
I think it's hard to deny the use of sarcastic or satirical language in the Scripture, but I think it's the motive that's the important point to be honest. Also I suppose how we actually define sarcasm. For instance, if sarcasm is a use of language to belittle the target, and elevate the speaker, then it's undoubtedly sinful. However when such language is used to expose foolishness and sin for the purpose of saving the hearer, then not so. For example Paul uses harsh words to the Corinthians, and then qualifies it with the statement:

14  I do not write these things to make you ashamed, but to admonish you as my beloved children.

1 Corinthians 4:14 (ESV)
Thanks for the input John. Bless you.
